Barack Obama Goes for the Surfer Vote

That’s it, that’s all I needed to see, my ballot’s already filled. While he may not be making the cover of any major surf magazine’s anytime soon, democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama pulled into a few waves at the legendary Sandy Beach on Oahu this past week. Obama, who was born in Honolulu, was in Hawaii for a week-long vacation with his family. On his last day in the islands the Senator took to the small shorebreak and bodysurfed with all of the style and form of someone who had frequented this beach in his younger years.

Obama Body Surfing

Even his ocean escort, Honolulu lifeguard Peter Erwin, was impressed with the style shown by the presidential hopeful, saying “Obama obviously knew what he was doing. He was experienced. Senator Obama was getting some very nice waves. He was handling himself well.”

So maybe instead of holding so many debates we can look forward to a bodysurfing contest between Obama and his elder (much elder) republican counterpart, Sen. John McCain? Nah, I wouldn’t bet on it.

I love bodysurfing at Sandy beach also and I have a pic of myself just like this; if I knew that’s all it took to get votes for president I would have run for office. Barack’s campaign is based on HOPE. The REAL definition of HOPE is: delayed disappointment!!! There is no way I want a BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA as the leader of America and the free world! McCain was not my first choice but between these two he will get more done then HOPE!

  • Jensen Says:

If you ask me, they both suck. After what Bush has done with the country, not sure I’d ever trust another Republican running things. On the flip side; Obama’s tax plan is seriously whack - roughly 65% tax for people making over $250k/year - way to encourage us to work harder and promote entrepreneurship. As far as I’m concerned this country’s best days are behind us. Plenty of other nice places to live in the world that are in many ways far superior to the USA.

  • belac Says:

I’m appalled at some peoples’ skepticism and negativity! Jammer, must be a boogie boarder or something because Brorack IS the leader of the free world and he rips. Was he implying that his name makes him unfit for the role?! Don’t drop in people Jensen! Your best days are behind you. DOn’t contaminate us with your doom and your gloom.

  • demakagmk Says:

Belac is a friggin’ genius. Yeah, Jammer is a boogie boarder and an ignorant one at that. I don’t care what Obama’s name is, he’s the most interesting presidential candidate we’ve seen in a generation. The “free world?” That phrase has no meaning any more. Get off the beach, Jammer, and go back to school!

  • Jensen Says:

“he’s the most interesting presidential candidate we’ve seen in a generation.”

That’s not saying much Dema… It seems that every 4 years we’re left with the choice between bad and worse. This year’s no different.

Right now, I’d say the country’s main issue seems to be a financial one and I can tell you neither of these candidates are a good choice for that. Especially a socialist that wants to tax the people to death so we can create a bigger government with more handouts for the people who sit on their asses all day expecting others to help them instead of helping themselves.

Belac - I’d love to hear what positive track you think this country is on? I’m not trying to be doom or gloom, more just a realist. We’re about to bottom out financially and the way things are shaping up around the world it seems like a world war, one of which we’ll be front and center, is not that far off. Have you been paying attention to what Russia is doing? What about Iran? Once we’re spread so thin taking care of these problems, don’t you think China, North Korea, and Venezuela will be licking their chops to get a piece of us? Again, I’d love to hear what you think is so positive about the track we’re on?

  • demakagmk Says:

What about Russia, Jensen? They were responding to an armed incursion in which a number of their peacekeeping troops were killed. You have taken hook line and sinker the pro-Georgian line that the media and the U.S. government is feeding you. The U.S. is backing a corrupt, autocratic government that bogusly calls itself democratic because it wants a counterweight to Russia in the region and an oil pipeline from the Caspian that doesn’t go through Russia. I would be more concerned about the fraudulent preemptive war started by the Bush regime, if I were you. Obama? Hell, yes! He couldn’t be worse than the past 8 years, could he? Socialist? Were you brainwashed as a child or did you just listen to too much Rush Limbaugh driving home from boogie boarding?

  • Jensen Says:

I’m not taking sides in the Russia/Georgia issue - simply pointing out exactly what you mentioned in that the US is pro-Georgian and backing them. Doesn’t much matter who is right or wrong at this point. Put two and two together, dumbass!

Now what about Poland, Dema? Are you aware of what’s happening there or do I need to spell it out for you? Again, not taking sides or pointing out who is right or wrong. But this is obviously going to create a lot more uneeded tension between USA/Russia. Can’t you see where the road is headed? Maybe you’re just a war monger and are excited at the thought of getting involved in more conflict.

Of course I’m concerned about the war started by Bush. But I’m more talking about where we’re headed and not where we’ve been or currently are.

Do you know what a socialist is or the meaning of socialism? You either don’t know the meaning of the word or you have no clue what Obama and the Dems are about….

He wants wealth redistribution and universal healthcare, both socialist ideals, as well as heavily regulating businesses. He also heavily supports tax payer funded entitlements.

    Get a clue bro!!

PS - I’m still awaiting an answer about the positive track we’re heading on?? I’d love to know.

  • demakagmk Says:

    Jensen,

I’d rather surf than talk politics but I wonder about your foreign policy credentials. I suspect that before the Russia-Georgia crisis you had never heard of South Ossetia or Tskhinvali but now you’ve got an opinion. Been there many times, bro. Poland? Yeah, it’s a stupid, provocative policy the U.S. is following but it won’t make me miss dawn patrol tomorrow unless this on-shore wind keeps up. Hey, try this on for size, “Poshel ty na khuy, soplyak!

    Best regards,
    DEMA

  • belac Says:

Jensen, go paddle out somewhere else. let me give you a clue, the ‘positive track’ we’re heading on is black and his last name rhymes with Brobama. if you’re really concerned about the warS bush has started then you’d realize that a vote for mcain is a vote for the policies that brought these wars to be in the first place. you are the war monger by even entertaining the idea of letting mcain represent our beautiful nation. your doom and gloom view and ‘two evil’ hyperbole (and yes thats what it is) is cliche, selfish, and standing in the way of the change brorack is gonna bring. the track towards positivity begins as soon as gw bush is no longer representing us as americans. have you heard him speak? are you deaf to the tones of hypocrisy, stupidity, dishonesty, and warcrime?

  • Jensen Says:

@Belac - I never said I was voting for McCain nor would I ever vote for him. Did you not see my original comment about not trusting republicans? I’d rather not vote than pick the lessor of two evils, which seems to be the common occurance every 4 years. Personally, I’m over the US and looking for other places I can call home.

  • belac Says:

ok jensen. i understand that you’re frustrated and yes, the world is full of beautiful places to call home, but i would beg you, please, before you abandon post, and in the spirit of altruism, not to mention duty, realize that a promise to end an unjust war (like brorack’s) is not even slightly evil. yes, you did make that original comment and i thank god you’re not going to put a check next to mcain’s name, but by forfeiting your opportunity to put one next to brorack’s (in the name of peace) you are turning your back on ‘the free world’, not charging, being lame and sackless. plus you;re going to bring a bad vibe to wherever you go to take refuge. the battle is still undecided, dont route just yet.

  • Jensen Says:

Sorry Bru, just can’t bring myself to put a check next to someone that wants me to work 2/3 of the year for free - which is essentially what a 65% tax bracket is.

I don’t think I have a bad attitude at all and I certainly won’t be bringing bad vibes anywhere, but I appreciate your concern.
