Bob Meistrell offers up $5,000 for Return of Freeth Statue

George Freeth StatueThe bronzed bust of George Freeth was stolen from the Redondo Beach Pier in Los Angeles, Ca. last Thursday. This is apparently not sitting well with Body Glove founder Bob Meistrell, and Meistrell is offering up a hefty $5,000 reward for the return of the statue that has been a fixture on the pier for over 30 years.

Many know Freeth as the pioneer who brought surfing from Hawaii over to the states. Police Sgt. Phil Keenan says say the motive could be simple vandalism, or simply just cracker jacks looking to cash in by trading in the nearly 100 pounds of copper for cash. Either way, there is great hope that the bust of this icon will somehow turn up or be turned in. If you have any information whatsoever, please help us return the likeness of George Freeth to it’s rightful location on Redondo Beach Per.

HOW TO HELP :

WHAT: $5,000 reward for information leading to the safe return of the George Freeth bust and the arrest and conviction of any guilty individual.

INFORMATION: Bob Meistrell at Body Glove, 310-374-3441, Ext. 292 or 277, 201 Herondo St., Redondo Beach, CA 90277; www.bodyglove.com.
