THE MACHINE / 686 ACC (ARTIST COLLABORATION CONSPIRACY) LAUNCHES AT S.I.A
SAN DIEGO, CA – January 22, 2009 – The Machine Inc. is proud to announce their
collaboration with 686 for the ACC 2009-2010 winter line. The Artist Collaboration
Conspiracy was introduced in the 2003/2004 winter line as the first of its kind for
the snowboard outerwear industry. Every year, a new batch of artists from different
genres and backgrounds are chosen to participate, adding cultural, mental, and
artistic diversity. The ACC project is not just a way to help emerging and
established artists gain worldwide exposure, but is also meant to exist as an artist
network for future endeavors.
For the ACC project, the artists create artwork that is screen printed on the inside
of an outerwear jacket. The line of jackets is in turn, called the ACC line. The
jacket also includes a hangtag which displays a photo, biography, and the ways a
customer can find out more about the featured artist, such as a web site or book.
“ACC has been part of the 686 collection for almost ten years and we’re very excited
to be working with Mark Hibdon and Jason Bump on the 2009-2010 project. It’s a
bonus to work with artists who have a strong snow background because they understand
the product from day one. Mark and Jason work exceptionally well as a team and have
produced some amazing pieces that transition into our line effortlessly,” said
Kristin Cusic, 686 V.P. of Marketing.
“We are really stoked to be included in the ACC project for 2010. Being asked to
create artwork for 686 outerwear and be in the same company as past ACC artists
like, Andy Howell, Shepard Fairey, Caia Koopman and Derek Hess is truly an honor. We
had a great time designing the pieces,” said Jason Bump, The Machine
Co-founder/Designer.
The 686 ACC Collection will be launching at the SIA tradeshow (booth #D46) in Las
Vegas, NV from January 27-January 30, ISPO (booth #A1 306) in Munich, Germany from
February 1- February 4 and at SBJ in Yokohama, Japan from February 20- February 21,
2009.
