Have you ever heard the saying old dogs can’t learn new tricks? Well I have, and I am here to tell you that in the case of skateboarding that’s not true. You’re never too old to learn a new trick, remember that.

Lately I have been going out skateboarding and trying tricks that I’ve never been able to do. I may look like a beginner to many and I may look silly trying to learn something new, but who cares. I guarantee you that if you really want to learn a trick you can. I have never met anyone in skateboarding that can do “every” trick in the book, so this applies to every skateboarder out there.

You know that feeling of fulfillment and accomplishment when you learn a new trick? I want to inspire all of you to go on out and skateboar and learn something new. Something that you’ve never done before. If you can kickflip, go on out and make yourself learn it switch. If you’ve skated street all your life then go on out to the park and learn to do a rock and roll. Go on out and apply yourself to a new trick. Skate new terrain. You gain a lot of respect for those other skateboarders and your brothers around you as well. Not to mention you add some new tricks to your arsenal of tricks already on lock.

If you see someone trying to learn a trick that you already have down, don’t be afraid to throw them some tips. Never put a fellow skateboarder down, if anything help him out and pump him up. A little motivation can go a long way. Feed off of your skateboarding brothers and I guarantee the session will be that much more fun.

Remember you’re never too old to learn a new trick. Skateboarding is just as much mental as it is skill. Sometimes I seriously feel it’s almost completely mental. Its how much you want to land something, its how much time and effort you put into what you are doing. The feeling of success and the accomplishment of landing that trick you were working on for a full 3 weeks cannot be compared to anything. It just feels GREAT!!!!
