Phoenix AM Going Down This Weekend

phoenix amThe Phoenix Am is a world renowned skateboard contest that takes place in Peoria, Arizona. It is an exciting contest to watch because the upcoming skateboard amateurs in the contest are super hungry for the contest win. Not only are there cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, but the exposure level being highlighted for the contest is immense. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the gnarly carcass tossing that will be going down during the best trick contest held that same day.

The skateboarders in this contest may not be pro but they definitely seem to have way more energy out on the course. If you’re in Arizona this weekend be sure to check it out. I guarantee you it will be entertaining and worth the watch. There is an entrance fee of five dollars, but if you are one of the first five hundred to show up you leave with a free shirt.

Saturday, April 5th , is the start of the first heat for the 100 sponsored skateboard contestants. The top 35 skateboarders go to the eliminator round as does the individual that first gets a golden ticket, which is basically an automatic advancement to the finals.

On Sunday, the top 35 from the previous day get narrowed down to the top ten, which also includes the golden ticket winner. From there they battle it out in their respective heats for the top 3 seats of the contest. First place leaves with a hefty $3,000.00 cash prize.

And for the party-goers, if you happen to know somebody there you can even go to one of those gnarly company parties they throw afterwards. Or you could just stay in the Arizona area and skate one of the many wonderful parks they have out there. Not to mention they have there own share of famous street spots located nearby.
