Rip Curl’s Webcast Fails Again
We’ve criticized Rip Curl’s webcasts in the past, back at the Rip Curl Pro Bell’s Beach for being somewhat lackluster. Now, we’re sitting here trying to watch the best action we’ve seen on tour this year, and they can’t seem to keep the webcast up. It keeps freezing. You literally can’t watch any of the surfing happening right now at the Rip Curl Pro Search in perfect Indo.
We’ve just missed the majority of the Parko/Jordy heat and now we’re missing Kelly’s heat. Parko was on fire too! If Quiksilver, Billabong, and Globe can keep their webcasts running smoothly, there’s no reason that Rip Curl shouldn’t be able to either. Come on Rip Curl, throw a few more servers at it…

Huge technical fail from Rip Curl but more importantly the blame rests on the shoulders of Vividas(their bandwidth partner). To make matters worse, the heats on demand don’t work either. They play for about 1 second and shut off.

I hope Rip Curl gets their act together because this was Kelly’s first time ever surfing Padang and he pulls in SWITCH in Round 1, F*cking Amazing and Dane almost pulled a few Rodeos!! Just think what else is going to go down: I don’t want to miss anymore action!!

Rip Curl seem way to tight to spend the money on a good web infrastructure & team. Pathetic really. They don’t even update the site on a regular basis. Wouldn’t they update the page at 1st light in indo so people know when the next call is and therefore when to tune in!!
Not sure how Globe can be mentioned to have had a good webcast, they were just as bad as this Rip Curl effort.
The Jbay show was fantastic and has really set the bench mark for webcasts. Entertaining commentary, extra content and all the highlights from every heat. damn good stuff. Top work Billabong!

Why can’t the same web company do the broadcast for all the events? Even the replay they have on their site is crapping out!!! Unfortunate. Cause this event is going off!

I guess the question is….If the best contest of the year happens and no one sees it, did it really happen?
