Chasing after swells and exploring new waves is becoming increasingly challenging as airlines all over the world are jacking up not only their ticket prices, but also giving us a hit in the form of outrageously high boardbag fees. Some like Bahama Air and British Airways have disallowed surfboards altogether, others airlines such as Delta have increased their boardbag fees as high as $300 each way. Watching airlines make the move to these ludicrous fees has been disappointing and frustrating to surfers, especially those who live to travel and surf amazing waves all over the world.
Seeing this trend for raising boardbag fees continue with no end in sight, an online petition has been launched to let the guilty airlines know that surfers are none too pleased with this shameful behavior of discriminating against us, When considering the fees for snowboards, skis, and golf bags are consistently low and even non-existent, there is just no possible way to justify this unprecedented rise in boardbag prices. If you would like to let your voice be heard on this, head over to Surfers-against-airline-fees.com and put your name on the petition.
