Nyjah Huston Rides for I&I Skateboards

Monday, July 13th, 2009

nyjah huston

While everyone is busy on the Maloof Money Cup hype, many of you are also wondering what that board was that Nyjah was riding? Well its an I&I skateboards deck.

Nyjah Huston did start his own skateboard company and it looks dope! This time, he’s also a professional signature rider for the company where as before he had no signature product. Other pros on the team include Richard Jefferson and a group of up and coming ams.

I am positive with a little time you will start to hear tons about this company. And don’t be surprised if many big names jump aboard the Nyjah train. The kid rips and also took 3rd place honors this year at the 2nd annual Maloof Money Cup. Last year he took 2nd and I honestly think he had a 1st place performance. Bigflip frontboard on hollywood high 16 replica? DAMN! This year he tore it up at the contest as well. He completely nailed almost every trick he tried with consistency. I don’t think I ever saw him even spend more than 3 tries on any one trick. He was landing everything.

There is still no word on a official website yet and a preview of the product but anything run and owned by a true skateboarder is worth backing. Big ups to Nyjah and the Huston family.

Nyjah Huston’s New Skateboard Company?

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

nyjah huston

At the moment, skateboarding child prodigy Nyjah Huston is still without a board sponsor since his recent departure from Element skateboards. But word on the street is that may very well change sometime soon.

We’ve heard from various sources recently that Nyjah has been getting a few offers to start up his own skateboard company. This is something we speculated on when he left Element. One of the legitimate offers is coming from the head honchos behind Plan B who are wanting to help the child wonder start up his own skateboard company.

Imagine that! If I’m not mistaken, he would be the youngest skateboarder ever in the world to start up his own skateboard company. With his dad as his business partner, I don’t see why it couldn’t go down. He has really seemed to do good for himself and has basically become a household name within the span of a few short years.

What will he call this new company? Who will ride alongside him for it? And most importantly, when will it officially be revealed? My guess is that we’ll hear news on this sometime soon. It’s only a matter of time now before you will see and hear from it. And if the dudes over at Syndrome pick it up, you know its going to be marketed everywhere!

Drop a comment below if you have any more info about this rumor.

Nyjah Huston Off Element

WOW! That is the first word that comes to my mind. Not to long ago, I did an entry about Tosh Townend’s leave from Element Skateboards. And now, another Element elite rider is bouncing on the free market. If there was ever one other person I could associated with Element instantly, with a mention of their name, it would have to have been Nyjah. It’s almost too weird that he won’t be on Element skateboards team anymore. He has been a part of the team since its early “Twigs” team program. Which was a separate division of mini decks for little skateboarders.

I don’t want to say this is the reason for his leave, but it might be due to the fact that he never got a pro deck or that they never turned him “pro”. We all know his board would have done really well, especially with all the young guns turning pro nowadays it would have seemed fit. His performance at the Maloof Money Cup was enough for me that if I was Element, I would’ve confirmed his professional status. But maybe it was the age issue?

Where will he be moving to next? From countless message boards and ties he has, I’ve heard everything from him moving to Organika to being the newest member on the Plan B team. Maybe he will come out of nowhere and shock everyone by starting his own board company or jumping on some unknown roster. Whatever he chooses to do he is still going to be the craziest damn little skateboarder in the industry. I have seen him skate in person countless times. He skates like a grown ass man, doing tricks we wish we could do at least once in our lifetime. Nyjah Huston is a beast, a child skateboarding prodigy who is sure to be around the industry for a very long time. Also don’t be surprised to see him knighted with instant “pro” status on whichever new team he rides for. It’s inevitable, and we know it.
