Cameron Olthuis - Editor in Chief

Cameron was born on the snow but currently resides on - and much prefers - the beach in Carlsbad, Ca. He has a passion for surfing and on most days he can be found paddling out somewhere on one of the breaks between Grandview and Campgrounds. He also frequently watches the weather and chases the pow back to Utah when the big storms stack up. Cameron is the Founder of Factive Media, an action sports media network. He also consults some of the biggest brands on successful online marketing strategies.

Chris Bennett - CoFounder

Chris Bennett grew up in Vista California where he surfed nearly everyday with his brother Patrick. He now resides in Utah and has replaced the daily surf with snow. He is the founder and president of 97th Floor, a renowned online marketing firm catering to mid and large size companies. When he isn’t building online communities, he is wrestling with his identical twin boys, riding ATV’s, snowboarding and trying to get down to Cali to surf with Cameron.

Shaun Johnson - Senior Editor, Surf

From his earliest years spent surfing the countless world-class breaks located within minutes of his hometown of Makakilo, HI., Shaun’s had a passion and fascination for surfing, the ocean, and the culture & history that go with it. Having traveled to many parts of the world, Shaun’s had the privilege of seeing, experiencing, and meeting some of the greatest the earth has to offer. Time not spent writing and reading is largely spent in the ocean or on the snow.

Patrick Bennett - Designer & Developer

Patrick was born and raised in San Diego, Ca. Although he has tried it all, his passion has always been surfing. Having spent most of his time surfing local SoCal breaks, he’s also traveled to find perfect waves in Costa Rica, Mexico, and Hawaii. Having lived near the beach all his life, and being a “local” himself, Pat knows the core things that make up the surf industry today. These days, he is living near SLC in Utah with his wife and son. He is the owner of Modern Blue, a highly successful web design firm. Pat is on a mission to keep the web simple, and to help action sport companies improve their websites and their overall online presence.

Derek Olthuis - Contributor, Snow

Hi. My name is Derek Olthuis. I was born in Calgary, Alberta and I currently live in Orem, Utah; one of the finest snow meccas of the world. I love to ski more than anything else and thats why I choose to live in Utah. Famous for its champagne powder, I spend everyday I can at Snowbird skiing some of the world’s best snow and terrain. I am also a full-time student at Utah Valley State Valley College were I am studying business. Besides skiing, I also enjoy wakeboarding, fly fishing, skateboarding, and surfing. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of 5ones because I am passionate about action sports and sharing it with others.

Ruben “Studdard” Najera - Contributor, Skate

Hey there, my name is Ruben ‘Nar’ Najera I was born in the 120 degree heat of El Centro, CA. Skateboarding is my everything and I have been consumed by it the last 9 years of my life. I seriously live and breath skateboarding. I ride for various skateboard companies at a Pro/Am/Flow level. I have appeared in skateboarding magazines, skateboard videos, and even as a skateboarder in music videos. I have had tons of experience in the industry; from starting off working at local skateshops to making skateboards for some of the largest companies out there. I guess you could say I know a lot of the dirt within the walls. I can be found skateboarding every chance I get. I’m always out logging in new skate footage, doing writeups for 5ones.com, getting photos, and taking gnarly skate trips when I can.
