West Oz: The Power of a Young Surfer’s Images
With surfing, a story is always far better told with pictures and images than with words. I could sit here for days on end writing thousands of words on any of the most magical waves around the world and when finished I would never even come close to capturing the essence of the location the way that a single, skillfully taken photograph would.

When a photographer manages to capture the majesty of a certain location the way 18 yr.old Morgan Maassen has in his photo blog titled “Australia PT. 1″ the images become instantly unforgettable. Maassen, the founder of Bogus Media, is one of the truly talented up and coming photographers in surfing. His journey to Australia has seen his heart be stolen by the land down under. With the images he has produced, it’s not hard to see why-
“G’day!
i am in australia! i have been in this glorious land for over a month now.
i am shooting my travels in super8 (motion) film, and surfing my 5′5 wood fish!
i’ve been traveling between the coasts, surfing up and down both the west and the east.
i am enjoying all of the museums, galleries, eats, beaches, events, sights…
western australia was truly spectacular, what an experience.
i think i am in love…
more words later…”
-Morgan Maassen
If a picture really is worth a thousand words, young Morgan Maassen is telling a truly rich story. And apparently, he’s only just begun….
